Tweets Showing in Google Searches – What it Means for Dentists

Google and Twitter have teamed up to provide real-time content in Google’s search results. This is from Twitter’s blog yesterday:
“Starting today, U.S. users searching in English will see relevant Tweets in their search results within the Google app (iOS and Android) and mobile web. The desktop web version is coming shortly, and we have plans to bring this feature to more countries in the coming months.”

What does this mean for dentists

Mostly, this partnership will impact major brands and trending topics. But, if your practice isn’t already using Twitter as a social marketing tool, now might be a good time to get started. This new search feature holds the potential for aggressive marketers to get their name and content on page one and in front of patients.

The main purpose of this partnership is to provide Google users with real-time relevant content on the topics they’re searching. With 236 million active users, Twitter provides a robust amount of content. Currently the new service is only available on mobile devices for searches in the English language.

Users can search key phrases such as celebrities, popular TV shows or trending topics and hashtags such as #dentist or #smile.
